Gypsy: Ann Taylor (AKA Helen Johns)
Location: 6001 S. 27th St., Greenfield, Wisconsin (suburb of Milwaukee)
Description: Wife of Stanley Johns; sister-in-law of Helene LaMarr of Oak Lawn, IL (aka Helen Lamar, aka Helen Cannon, wife of Rick Cannon)
|
|
I talked to [someone in the know] about "Ann Taylor" and found out that Ms. Johns is widely known for her scamming ways. One poor woman, according to my source, was giving Ms. Johns her jewelry because she had no money and also cleaning Ms. John's house! If that poor woman had no money to afford jewelry, I'd be willing to guess that the jewelry she gave away consisted of family heirlooms! Oi Vey! And my source called what Ms. Johns was doing a "Gypsy scam"; you can imagine [my surprise] when I typed "Gypsy scams" into a search engine and your site with a picture of Ms Johns's house was the first thing that was listed!... I haven't been there in about 12 years, but they will suck the blood out of you. They are heartless people. They don't care what you have to go through to get them money. I've worked 3 jobs for about 3 years trying to support them and me. I had to get a second mortgage (loan for them) because they told me someone I cared about was going to have a serious accident and either be maimed for life or die if I didn't come up with about $15-20,000 to prevent the accident from happening. When I think about it...what a thing to say to someone. I didn't want their death on my hands, so of course, I came up with the money. They also got me for...(continued)

Nov 3, 2005 -- I was looking in the Montreal Gazette and I saw this add Psychic Miranda, reunites loved ones, etc., call 1800 8080192. I've been having problems with the one that I love and I was also very depressed and searching for a miracle. So I called. This lady named Miranda picked up the phone, sounded very nice and sincere and started to predict things and describing how I felt.Immediately I fell for the bate, Her fee was 300Us, money back guarantee if she couldn't do the work. She guaranteed 100% results. She gave me instructions to send the money via Western Union; she told me that we had to keep it a secret for it to work because it was between us and God. So I sent her the money to her associate Jenn Mitchell, City n State, Chicago.(Sent by credit card) After the payment was made she gave me instructions to call her twice a day for the next five days, she would be meditating to find out what was the source of my problems. For the next five days, I kept close contact. I called her and she called me.

|
After reading the information, presented on your website, I decided to "reopen" a case from some years back. My original reason for visiting Laura was for some simple advice, concerning a job, back in 1991. Unfortunately, it was at a time, when I was more vulnerable, and that initial visit opened up a whole "Pandora's Box" of things, which I didn't want to get involved in. She came on with things involving a "bad luck" being passed from generation to generation, and said that she needed to do work in her church. For that she required $240 for candles. About a month, she told me that she required $1,000 for work involving my job. About a month later, she came on with the following: She told me that the bad luck in the family was "so strong" that she required $4,900, which was a "magic number" for "the work." She told me that she works with "certain numbers." Immediately, I became upset with her and expressed it to her, because I expected more results from the money, which I had given to her previously. Then, she told me that, in ONE MONTH, that money would be returned to me, and the work would be completed. Unfortunately (or, I should say, fortunately) I din NOT have that amount of money in my account. Then she pulled out that expression that "the spirits" are telling her that I DO have the ability to pay that amount. Immediately, I told her that her "spirits" are wrong, because I was telling her the truth. (I must emphasize that I was always being truthful with her!) She then asked me how much I am capable of "putting up for the work." I said $3,000. She pressured me to go to the bank immediately, so that I could withdraw that amount from the bank, so that she could "begin her work." I then began to question, I thought that she has already begun the work several months ago. She never got the complete $4,900 from me, but after a month, of course, I didn't have any money returned after that month passed, as originally promised. One other thing is that she also told me that she was going to "loan" the remaining $1,900 to the church to "match her numbers."
...I wish to also include the following excerpt, concerning the others in her family, from a website: "Two self-described psychics, Sonia Merino, 50 and her daughter-in-law, Nasta Merino, 23 were arrested and charged with five counts each of mail fraud for allegedly conning clients into paying thousands of dollars in fees to free them from bad karma...One client told investigators that he gave Sonia Merino more than $518,000 in checks, a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle, a CD player and a personal computer over a three-year period after first going to her for a tarot card reading in 1996 after a failed romance...In addition to mail fraud, Sonia and her husband Steve, 44, were charged with tax fraud for allegedly underreporting $750,000 in income from 1995 through 1999.

My story is similar to so many others out there. I went in to see this "psychic" on my own when I was in a very vulnerable period and seeking answers. She said I had a lot of "negative energy" surrounding me, and asked whether I had ever had a "spiritual cleansing". Later she said the "negative energy" was so strong that she had to bring her mother into the "Work". Then Ann Johns, her mother, who is actually her mother-in-law, got involved. She said she'd find out whatever this negative energy is, and a couple sessions later they told me it was a "curse" that had been put on my family and that was the cause of all my problems. I was skeptical and frightened that they were conning me as I now found myself allegedly "sacrificing" thousands and thousands of dollars (my life savings), but they also gave me so much hope that I felt euphoric about the future. I wanted to talk to someone about it but they always insisted on absolute secrecy, or it would interfere with "the work" so I was afraid to discuss it with anyone...

I am writing this in the hopes that it will not only help someone else before they get scammed for as much as my husband did (about $180,000), but also that someone may contact me who got scammed by this same person to help the case we are trying to put together against her.
Everything I read on this website describes what my husband went through. I found this website out of desperation to help him believe that what he was finally telling me (after he started to tell her he wanted his money back and for this to be over) was not true and that her alleged headaches were not from the supposed "evil" she was encountering everytime she tried to touch the "box" of money. We believe she is a drug addict because my husband followed up on a hospital stay of hers, and lo and behold there she was getting morphine in her veins, supposedly for headaches she told my husband.

I went to a psychic named Grace at 7th Ave. & Hatcher in Phoenix. My husband had left me with no warning and I was devestated. I called Grace and she told me that I sounded so upset and needed help so badly, that she was going to put off her plans for the weekend, in order to see me. She called me at home every few days over a three week period "just to check on me"

At this time I do not care to re-live the entire story. Your story was pretty much a duplicate of what happened to me and I am LIVID right now.
My Scam Artist was Mrs. Rita in Tempe AZ, and she took me for about $200. The last time I saw her was when I left Phoenix and Moved to San Diego. I called her in complete desperation for answers and she told me to come to a different location that the normal house on Mill Ave. I ended up accross town in a VERY LARGE elaborate house!!!! She told me I had been 'held' back from my happiness by something that happened in a past life of mine and that for $300 she could lift the 'darkness'. I RAN LIKE HELL out of there and I am glad to see this site. I will make sure to forward it to my co-workers that I unwillingly took to see her as well!!!! I want my money back!!
Thanks so much!!

Gypsies: Mother Paula (daughters "Erica" and "Victoria")
Location: 7237 S. Westnedge Avenue, Portage, MI

|
|
About 10 years ago, I went to see a "Spiritual Advisor" named Mother Paula in Portage, Michigan. The address of her "business" is 7237 S. Westnedge Avenue, Portage, MI. The spiritual advisors I talked to were her daughters and occasionally I would talk to "the mama" (that's what they called her) herself. I was in a bad place in my life and was desperate to find a solution to my chronic depression and overall bad luck. The young women I spoke with, one was named Erica and the other was Victoria, told me that I had a lot of darkness in my aura and that they could pray for me and get rid of it if I gave them some money so they could buy these expensive candles. I think they said they were from Canada or something (!) and were very top of the line, premium candles of some sort. So I would give them money, usually at least $200 per visit, and they would tell me how their work on me was going. They gave me a red ribbon to tie around my left wrist to protect me from any more "darkness" that might prey upon me in my daily life

Let's just say that the stories posted on GPS are all similar to mine. I visited their home four or five years ago when a relationship went sour to get a reading and they said I had negativity all around me and my chakras were closed. They would lift my negativity, clear my chakras and improve my love life but this 'work' would cost me $300. I was desperate to improve my love life so I gave them the money and continued to visit them for the next couple of years believing my lovelife would change for the better. My lovelife has not changed for the better. Five years later, I am still single, unemployed and have not met anyone since I've visited them!
I learned the hard way that Psychics are not answer to lifes' problems. Please heed this warning before making the decision to go spend your hard-earned money on these psychic vampires!

Thank you for your website and sharing your personal story/experience. I
went through almost the exact same thing from the year 2000-2002 (also to
"heal" myself/my romantic life and to try to get someone back who I really
thought I wanted and thought I was in-love with), and then the effects of
the brainwashing lasted for another 2 years...
...There are so many other comparisons I can make between your story and mine
(except that mine lasted for 2 years and I spent a total of $20,000.00). For
example, she was young, with young children who didn't seem to be doing well
or fitting in well at school. She spoke a mysterious language. Her husband
was a "car salesman", she had a church that she went to where other people
like her went to meditate in the middle of the night, a "superior" at the
church who she consulted with, not so great grammar, a dark look to her,
etc. Plus, the amount of money I had to give her kept growing: It was $25.00
for the first visit. In that visit she said she'd help me heal for no
charge, that she wasn't doing this for money. Soon she had to by candles and
crystals for me which cost maybe around $200.00 one time, $300.00 another
time (I don't remember exactly). Then, she said she had to go on a trip to
Florida to meditate and pray for me there (she said Florida was close to
where the "negativity" hung out, so she could release it better if she was
closer to it. Over the course of a year and a half, she went on about 3
trips to Florida to "help me heal". One time it cost me $3,000.00, one time
$6,000.00, and one time $11,000.00. She said it cost so much because she had
to purchase very expensive things to meditate on for me, and also because
there was this "healer" named "Sam" that was "her friend" who could assist
her in helping me heal and get rid of any remaining negativity that I "had".
His cost was $6,000.00 because, according to her, he had had skin cancer on
his nose before, and it was dangerous for him to go in the sun in Florida..... (continued)

I stopped into a Psychic reading shop in Chicago for fun and became the
prey. I was asked to provide $160 for materials. I wanted to believe this
was real so badly that I put up the money. My psychic said that I was a
special rare case that connected to her and that she would not be charging
me anything for her work, what she would get out of it was the spiritual
growth experience and that if she asked me for money God would know,
insisting that real psychics operate under these guidelines.
After many phone calls back and forth, rituals and purifications baths and a
lot of weird coincidences that made me a believer, it was revealed to my
psychic that the evil energy is circulating through my money. I was asked to
place $1 for each year of my age in a box along with a couple of other
items. After a week, it was revealed that $1 only represented 1% of the
strength and that $100 bills needed to be placed face up mixed every other
bill with the $1 bills..... (continued)

I recently visited a gypsy psychic and she told me I had a curse put on me that was blocking my love life. She explained she would help me get this curse off of me. She would give me special candles and incense to burn, however, it would cost me $300 dollars. I first explain to her I was scammed before and I didn't believe in this. She assured me that someone took advantage of me and that she was not like this people ( I should have went with my gut feeling) but she caught me at a vulnerable time. I explained to her I didn't have $300 dollars. She explained that I could pay her half and she would let me pay her the rest later. I wrote her two checks for $150, and back dated one of them. The other check has not gone through yet. It didn't take long for me to realize she had just scammed me after I wrote those checks. I am going to cancel the second check before she cashes it, however, I have been skeptical because I don't want any retaliation to used against me. She also has a picture of me. I feel foolish for allowing myself to be scammed and I don't want anyone that know about this so I have pondered on what I should do. She instructed me to burn candles for 3 days, bathe in some kind of oil for 3 days and burn incense. She then told me to schedule an appointment to meet with her and she would reveal somethings to me. Well as you can guess, the time she told me to come by, she was not available (that is when I confirmed the scam). Check was written to Michelle Stanton.

I have been scammed by a "psychic". It started about 3 years ago. I haven't yet reported it to the police. Recently I have been thinking about the scam I was conned into and decided to do some research and found your website. I want to thank you for putting up this website so I can inform others of this scamming gypsy who was able to scam about $15,000 from me.
She told me her name was Ester Lee...I visited her regularly and everytime she had something up her sleeves, like someone had put a curse on me and also my mother had stepped on something while she was pregnant with me and I had something growing in my stomach. She fed me all this stuff about how I needed to get an aura cleansing and she had me bring her items such as bleach, shampoo, etc. I can't even believe I would believe the BS she was feeding me, but I was at a very vulnerable state, going through a major heartache that I was willing to do anything and everything.
...She asked me for $6000 in cash so she could bury them in a graveyard so she could do some cleansing on me...At the end she wanted $40,000 so she could get rid of a curse. She told me I was not able to have children because of this curse but if I gave her this money, she could help me...... (continued)

I met this psychic one day at Venice Beach, CA. She has a shop right on Venice Beach...One day I went into her shop to get a reading. I thought it would be cool and fun. Well when I got in she just told me the basic stuff and then asked if I would come to see her again...so I was cool with it...her place was kind of weird cause it looked like her kids were living in there along with all her family.
I called her up one day after my first reading because I was having problems with my ex boyfriend and I was really going crazy with him...
...she told me to come to the beach to her shop because she told me she had seen some bad things that are coming my way and that I needed to come see her ASAP...I was really scared and she told me the only way to block her evil force was that she needed $2500.00 to buy some stuff to start her mission...I was dumb and gave her the money...a week passed by and nothing happened everything was the same, so I went back to Linda and told her what's going on...she then told me that she needed an extra $500 to buy a candle from Mexico...She told me give it a little time...I kept seeing her and then one day I went to see her she told me that my cousin's force was too strong and that she needed another $2500.00 to reverse the spell.... The first is named Marie 877-677-7477 and the other her "half-sister" Rosie Guerrero.
...This was the beginning of the nightmare for me. She gave me a reading and in fact was very encouraging concerning my career. When she finished, she then said "is there anything you'd like to ask me about?" BINGO! I told her that was "believing God for a mate" and that I was just tired of being alone and how great it would be to finally meet someone to settle down with. I had a preference for Italian men but she "con-vinced" me that I should be more open and that sometimes when an inter-racial couple meet and ultimately marry they're going to have cultural challenges (he's white, I'm black so our cultures were going to clash). I should have seen the red flag right then and there! I immediately labled Rosie a racist and decided this reading is over. Before I left she told me to "write a letter to God" and make sure that I include a prayer concerning God sending "divine intervention" "angels to help me" to get what I desire (I guess that would be Rosie and Marie) and too make sure I sign the letter "Your loving daughter". I still have that letter..... (continued)

The psychic that scammed me was Jessica Lee a.k.a Jessica Lewis. I was
desperate to get my husband back after we separated. So I went on-line and
she had the prettiest website, "Jessica's Love Spells.com". It was so
relieving to know their was help for me so I contacted her. She sounded
very nice and stated she had been in this business for over 15 years. She
stated almost immediately that my husband was my soul mate and he would
return home only to leave again because there was so much negativity within
me. She said to clear to negativity it would cost me $210 which I paid her
instead of paying a very important bill. She then contacted me to say
there was so much darkness in our lives and she had to clear that. Her
website stated she have my love home within 48 hours. She said 48 hours
after I pay the $950 for all of the materials he'd be home. This was the
end of October 2004..... (continued)

Hello! Thank you for creating this website
...The psychic told me her name was "Mother Hope" but it may have actually been Sister Faye or Cynthia. She was in her late 50's or early 60's, and reminded me of my grandmother, so I was too trusting
...At this point she opens a catalog, and shows me a Gold Plated box that was listed for $6900.00, and about 20 candles that were listed for $120 - 160 a piece. Mother Hope tells me that her cost is roughly $8900.00 (I don't even ask what it would cost me.) She then mentions that the "church" would need to perform a ritual that evening as I was in imminent danger. I tell her that I don't have that kind of money. She tells me that she sees an account that is accruing interest, and that I should be totally honest with her because god is listening to us. I tell her that someone must be hiding it from me as I know nothing of any money in the bank..... (continued)

Warning to anyone in NYC, particularly on the Upper West Side, about a woman calling herself Gia
After reading the info on your website, with some of the typical phrases, etc., enumerated, it's quite clear that it was a gypsy scam. When she told me that God wanted me to do some sort of ritual with a roll of white paper towels (to represent purity), a dozen red or white roses (growth), a banana (my body), and ... $2700.... Every time I'd come back for a visit, she'd always comment that the candle isn't burning as fast as she wants it to. She says there must be something that's hindering it from burning fast. Then she said that when she consulted the spirits about it, the spirits revealed that the other family who's jealous of my family sacrificed $900 and buried it in a cemetery and chanted on it. This was done to curse my family so that everything going for us would go wrong. Hope said that I must revert this curse. She said I'd need to give her $900 (specifically 9 $100 bills) and then the spirits will lead her to a cemetery where she can perform this ritual. I was floored! I wasn't even done paying for the stupid $1800, and now I need to pay for something else? ... (continued)

Lucky for me, I caught on to the scam quickly. But it could have been worse had I
been "rock bottom desperate".
I came to her shop for the $10 card reading. I was also on the verge of breaking
up with my boyfriend of 2 years, but undecided. So I was in a very vulnerable and
emotional state. Part of me believed that the psychic would give me some real
advice. I went with a friend, who was told to wait outside. Lori said the $10
reading came with only 2 questions, and she had a "life reading" that would tell all
for only $40... (continued)

First Victim's Story:
Well, I decided for fun to go and see Psychic Lisa. I paid her $25 for a tarot card reading. Then she told me that I had a evil spirits in me that have been preventing me from becoming successful. Then she asked me to stop by the next day which was Saturday. She told be to get 9 $5 bills and place it on a white fabric and then put an egg on the fabric and then meditate. After that she told me to put it back on under my bed. I returned to her on Monday. Then she did her thing with the egg and made me recite things. When she broke the egg a salamander or some lizard was revealed. It freaked me out a little. Then she told me to get 30 $100 bills and put it in 3 envelopes and put 30 rose petals in each with 30 needles in each envelope. To return to her. I told her that I do not have that much money and she seemed a little pissed off. I am not going back to that place again.
2nd Victim's Story:
I went to her once before, when I was going through a break-up. Basically, she just read my cards and I told her that another psychic had told me I had a curse on me. She gave me a suprised look like that was weird...When I came back on Saturday, she told me to put 9 $5 bills in an envelope, 9 red rose pedals, meditate w/it in my chest, put it under my bed and then bring it back to her the next day along with a picture. She said that the money was not for me to spend or to give to her... (continued)

I saw this woman back in December 2002 and was going
with a friend to get a reading. Since my friend
claimed this woman was accurate last time, I was more
up for it. Anyways, this woman looked at me and
claimed that my aura was half missing and she wanted
to look into it more. She made it some huge big deal
and said it wasn't something she saw very often. I
was having a hard time in my life at the moment and
fell for it. She wanted 300 up front to pay for the
"work" she was going to do... (continued)
